Star Aviation Private Limited is owned by the ETA Ascon Star Group of Dubai, U.A.E.  The ETA Ascon Star Group has been in business since 1973 and currently employs over 70,000 people worldwide.  In 2005, ETA Star Group created Star Aviation Services for several phases of the aviation business including worldwide VIP charter flights.  In 2008, plans were made to expand the aviation services to include scheduled airline operations in India which lead to the formation of Star Aviation.

Star Aviation will begin flight operations as a full service carrier in March 2009 utilizing Embraer 170 aircraft to initially serve regional routes on medium and low density markets from its base in Chennai, India.   The aircraft will be configured to comfortably seat 76 passengers in a single-class layout and will have In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) with individual video monitors in each seat.  Star will be the first airline to offer Wi-Fi internet access on-board to enable passengers to surf the net while in the skies.

This new contract between Star Aviation and Paramount Aviation Resources Group (Paramount) presents wonderful opportunities for crew members.  Star has signed a contract for seven (7) aircraft with options for three (3) more and five (5) purchase rights for any E-Jet model.   Paramount has begun recruiting for an initial cadre of four (4) current and qualified ERJ-170 TRI/TRE Captains for Star’s operational start-up.  However, Star’s plans call for future expansion.  The projected growth will likely offer career path possibilities for Paramount crew members.

The airline base will be in Chennai, India.  Chennai, formerly Madras, is the fourth largest city in India and the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.  It is located on the Southeast coast of India on the Bay of Bengal.  The island of Sri Lanka is south by southeast of Chennai.  The city has a population of 4.2 million people and the metropolitan area has an estimated population of over 7 million.  Established in the 17th century by the British, the city became a naval port, commercial center and an important administrative center.   The British influence is still evident in some of the beautiful buildings.  Chennai’s economy has a broad industrial base in the automobile, technology, hardware manufacturing and healthcare industries and is India’s second largest exporter of software, information technology and information-technology-enabled services.
